What Are Some Of Your Cigar Cravings?
LA RIQUEZA NO.3 5 5/8 x 46
Wrapper: Naturally Dark Connecticut Broadleaf
Binder: Nicaraguan
Filler: Nicaraguan
I love savory and sweet- especially the bitter-sweetness of a dark chocolate, so when I get a craving often times it will be for the La Riqueza. There is a good balance of earthiness and sweetness, and then just hints of pepper here and there. For me, it is a mood cigar and one that satisfies my appetite. But what about you- what are the cigars that you crave?
I have a number of cravings when it comes to cigars, but this is a very distinct one for me. I want to hear from you, your fond memories of cigars and the ones that leave you wanting more- tell me your stories.
Speak with you soon, xx.

One of the recent cravings I’ve gotten is the Exile by Cuban Imports. It’s Nicaraguan filler and binder, with an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper. Each of them comes wrapped in a reproduction headline of the New York Daily Mirror proclaiming President Kennedy’s enactment of the Cuban Embargo (that’s how you recognize them). Excellent cigar, contains hints of mocha and even slight notes of caramel halfway through the cigar. A pretty long smoke too, allow yourself enough time
Cravings… I get a couple. When I have the craving for something rich, and chocolaty, I generally reach for a Rocky Patel Fusion MM. Those tend to have a lot of that chocolate flavor, with a bit of hazelnut for good measure. If I’m looking for a big spice bomb, I either go for the Don Pepin Garcia Cuban Classic, or an Edge Corojo. One of the strange cravings I get from time to time, sort of a light citrus flavor, tends to send me reaching for a La Bonita Orange Label. It’s a gorgeous cigar utilizing a lot of Peruvian Tobacco, has a very fantastic construction with a nice-looking orange cloth label.
One cigar I often times crave is the Kristoff Ligero Matador. I love the oily wrapper of the cigar, and how it tastes, even before it is lit. The quality and construction on these is impeccable. It starts of with a pigtail cap, how fun is that, and is shaggy at the lit end. As I mentioned, the wrapper is oily, but has a rustic or old look to it, like this cigar has been in your humidor for years. There is a little toffee and coffee taste to this. Definitely worth the time to smoke one, and if you can get your hands on one Teresa, I suggest you grab one and try. I am curious what your thoughts would be of one of my favorites.

When I crave a smoke with a hint of dark chocolate flavor and sweetness I turn to to Drew Estate’s Dirt Torpedo . Generally, I cannot stand his acids, but this is a good smoke. I am recommending it because immediately you should notice a sweet hint of a sugar cane flavor in the wrapper. As the cigar develops the sweet smooth pronunciations of mocha flavor, cocoa, and coffee should be observed by your palate. I would recommend pairing it with a dark french roast coffee for a better experience.
I am still fairly new to the cigar world. I have a few favorites but I have yet to experience enough cigars to develop a craving for one specific one. We will see in a year or so! ha!
I love the La Riqueza having had all but the no 2 until recently. My local B&M had the no 2 in stock last week so I picked up a bunch. I have to be honest when I say that I was more than a little dissapointed. It really didn’t work for me. At least I know what I was missing. Let me know your thoughts if you end up finding some. If you don’t, I wouldn’t sweat it either.
These descriptions are making me want them all, I can see finding a mood for each of them. If you didn’t have cravings before, you certainly will now!
I love Nicaraguan cigars, that Sumatra wrapper sounds like a pretty delicious combination. The La Bonita Orange Label sounds interesting, citrus? I’ll have to seek it out, very curious! I also love the idea of pairing a cigar with a nice french roast coffee- a favorite of mine. I’ll sometimes have a cigar after a cafe cubano or cortadito- but the coffee in those cases never makes it long enough to count for a tasting, ha. Brilliant idea though- I love it and will have to try that.
The Kristoff’s I have been eyeing for some time, they look gorgeous and that oily wrapper appeals to me, love the shaggy foot. Just had the Tatuaje Gran Cojonu finally the other night- wow what a beautiful cigar! It had that slight cover on the foot as well. Just, beautiful. So happy to have finally had my hands on one (and for my humidor). I’m delighted to hear you describe it and I will definitely be giving it a taste here soon- thank you!
I’m actually delighted to hear you say that about the La Riqueza No.2- just came across it for the first time this evening. Didn’t give it a taste but I’ve heard that same opinion from others. Something about the tip that doesn’t allow the full draw or flavor. I haven’t tried it so I cannot say, but I am very happy with the ones I have had and may keep with them just fine
I’m sure I’ll try it one day just to have the experience though (the no.2) and will let you know my thoughts when I do.
xx
I can never go more than a couple days without a Tatuaje Havana Cazadores. There is just something about that cigar and how its flavors come together that I just cannot go without. It is the one cigar that I can actually say I crave on a regular basis. You get coffee, cocoa, nuts, wood, black pepper, all wrapped up in a smooth earthy core and complimented by a nice little nicotine punch. It is robust, complex and powerful and happens to be my favorite vitola so even the length and size suits me perfectly. I do not ever allow myself to run out of these cigars.
CAO Sopranos – damn that is a good smoke – any size is great, but the torpedo is my least favorite.
Anything cameroon – I am just a cammie whore i guess :p

Oh and anything that sexy beast xjv is smoking – LOL
I saw the La Riqueza at Cigars International when I went there today. I’ll give it a try next time. However I did give the new Nica Libre cigar a try. Great cigar if you crave dark chocolate.
Matt, I completely feel you on the Tatuaje’s, they probably make up my most consistent day to day smoke.. I love them, the flavor profile is ideal to me and all my moods.
Mike, how is that sexy beast xjv? lol, he owes you a wave back from me by the way
Nothing wrong with loving cameroon- they are lovely and I will get an appetite for them from time to time myself. Knowing what you love and indulging is beautiful.
Adam, let me know when you do, I would love to hear your thoughts. Dark chocolate is something I do enjoy indulging in, the Nica Libre sounds like a good profile for it, too- will have to give it a taste. Thank you.
