First Look: La Palina El Diario

La Palina has a story to tell- and now the story continues! La Palina announces the newest addition to their line- the El Diario. El Diario is a blend created out of a collaboration between La Palina and Alan Rubin of Alec Bradley, and is being rolled at the Raices Cubana factory in Honduras.

The blend features a Mexican Rosado wrapper along with two binders to give more complexity without an overwhelming strength. The binders are Nicaraguan and Honduran, and the fillers consist of Nicaraguan Corojo and Criollo. Elegance and balance always comes to mind when I think of La Palina and I am excited to welcome this new blend.

Below are some of the details about the blend that Courtney, from La Palina sent me. This is not the official press release, but rather a rather a “first look.”

La Palina El Diario
The El Diario blending was a collaboration between La Palina and Alan Rubin of Alec Bradley, and is being rolled at the Raices Cubana factory in Honduras.

The blend is as follows:

Filler – Nicaraguan Corojo and Criollo

Binders – there are 2 – Nicaraguan and Honduran

Wrapper – Mexican Rosado

The use of the 2 binders instead of one gave us the opportunity to offer the complexity we wanted without the strength becoming too overwhelming. The two binders work beautifully with the Mexican Rosado wrapper – the flavor is rich, the strength is a solid medium and the body is perfectly balanced.

There will be 6 sizes for the El Diario:

Robusto 5×52 box/20
Toro 6×50 box/20
Churchill 7×50 box/20
Torpedo 6 1/8 x 52 box/20
Gordo 6×58 box/20
Petit Corona 4 1/4 x 40 5/pack

Retail prices will be from $9-12

  1. Bought a couple of these to try out based on the review here at http://smokinghotcigarchick.com and they are pretty good. They are up there with some of my other favorites such as the Bolivar Dominican, Excalibur 1066 and others. They are a very good smoke for the money (although not cheap) and I am always looking for good cigars at reasonable prices. I also purchased a double cigar holder http://cigarholdershop.com, and now I don’t lose any cigars on the golf course and am a very happy camper!

    Just my $0.02 worth.
