Padron 1964 Anniversary Maduro Exclusivo & Port Pairing

A Padron Anniversary paired with a lovely port makes for a great experience every time. It can be great for either relaxing at the end of the day or for celebrating a special occasion, especially if you have a special aged port to match. It also makes for a great after dinner treat.

Something to consider is aging a Padron Anniversary of your choice in your humidor for a few years along with a bottle of port in your home, and bringing the two together when the moment is right. Beautiful!

Today was a casual afternoon that was so gorgeous I had to take a moment and enjoy this pairing. I went to Vintropolis, a wine bar, and although you cannot smoke inside they offer a great patio area with a fountain and heaters for the cooler nights. With the sun out, the weather was just perfect for a late afternoon smoke.ย  Even though you cannot smoke inside, it is always nice to see a humidor with cigars near the bar.

Padron & Port Pairing

Padron 1964 Anniversary M Exclusivo

Padron makes very beautiful cigars that are full of flavor and perfect for any palate. I think they have a characteristic that everyone can appreciate. The wrapper has a slight rough look to it, and though it may not be perfectly silky smooth you can be certain the smoke absolutely is. The 1964 Anniversary tends to be more of my go to whereas the 1926 Anniversary and 45 are more for special occasions.

With its rich flavor and medium to full body, this cigar tastes lovely accompanied by a tawny port. Ports are a wonderful dessert wine that tend to be heavier in texture and range in flavors and dryness or sweetness. I like sweet- but it has to be balanced. Too much can be overpowering, of anything. I think in this case the tawny notes from being aged in wooden barrels compliments the cigar and makes for an elegant pairing.

Good video Teresa, Padrons seem to be flawless. I only wish it was nice enough for me to smoke outside, I’ve been knee deep in snow.

They really are prefect cigars; I don’t think you can say you enjoy cigars if you don’t enjoy a Padron Anniversary. Something about them is special.

And Chuck, I will *absolutely* take you up on that! I have a few of the 45 in my humidor though I don’t expect them to last long… so delicious. My 1926 Anniversary cigars are aging.. I’m thinking a couple more years and a port will bring them out ๐Ÿ™‚

Padron is my all time favorite smoke. The anniversary is especially good. Although, I prefer scotch with mine. It’s too cold in Minnesota to smoke outside but I’ve converted my 3 season into a man cave heated by a nice looking patio heater (made to look like a bar table instead of those silver ones).

Tonight (actually it will end up being tomorrow morning) I will enjoy a Padron 3000.

    Long ashes to you!

Teresa – There’s 3 places I can think of off the top of my head. Other than that it’s just smoke shops.

Great video!! I really enjoy port with cigars as well. The Padron I smoke the most is the Natural Padron 3000 due to a better price point. I really must say that this is a wonderful selection that treated me well over years. Rich and flavorful at a good price! They aint pretty, but smoke awesome. The other top tear Padrons are indeed fantastic, I savor the moment once or twice a year. A definite coming Eastertide cigar! Good day to you, and thanks again for the video.

The Padron ’64s are fantastic smokes. I will disagree with you on one point, You said “Padron makes very beautiful cigars”. I have never seen a Padron that I could call beautiful. At least not in the traditional sense. They are always very rough, rustic and sometimes down right ugly looking cigars. Even the really expensive 44s and 45s I’ve seen have been kind of homely looking if not just plain ugly.

They sure do taste good though. What they lack in aesthetics they make up for in flavor. ๐Ÿ˜‰

May I suggest a wired lav mic. It would make the sound so much better.

Terry, keep warm and enjoy your Padron! I adore scotch and am looking to do some fun pairings here soon.

John, I love Basil Hayden and hadn’t thought of that combination. I can definitely see it working though, thank you for the recommendation; love it.

Adam, I am happy to hear there is at least that. It amazes me how in some places you cannot even smoke in the cigar shops..

Mike, I haven’t had a bad Padron yet and that is a great price point with a lot of flavor. Honestly that is something I think of too when it comes to the 1964 Anniversary when you look at the other Anniversary Padrons. It is still on the higher end but much more affordable in that respect.

Matt, lol I also said the wrapper has a rough look to it. I kind of find that beautiful in a way, too, now… kind of like a broadleaf wrapper on a tatuaje, it’s rough and ugly but man is it a beauty. So delicious! You are absolutely right too on the aesthetics, it is definitely there in flavor ๐Ÿ™‚

When the occasion calls for it, I enjoy Macallan 18 paired with a 40th Anniversary Maduro . The two just marry so well together. Since both are quite expensive this doesnโ€™t happen all the time. I have a couple of these sticks in aging and when I get the time to just relax this is what I smoke.
