After hearing so much about the El Museo cigar, a charity project from La Flor Dominicana with designs by Ruben Toledo, I finally had the chance to indulge this past Friday night. And for this tasting, there was an event done in style at  Santa Barbara Cigars making it a special occasion.

There’s nothing like enjoying a limited edition cigar, let alone trying one for the first time, in the company of great people. We had all waited for the occasion so we could share the experience together and made it a night to remember. The box was something to be desired, so each el museo cigar purchase included a raffle ticket to determine a winner at the end of the evening.

The cigar? Beautiful- truly a fabulous experience and one we will all appreciate. La Flor makes some lovely full-bodied cigars, but this one was exceptionally balanced. Definitely not their strongest cigar, but the complexity and smoothness was something to admire. It is easy to not pay attention to the time, particularly when you are in great company, but before we knew it four hours had passed before finishing this cigar. It may be limited edition, but we made the most of it!

Of course, at the end of the evening a winner was chosen…I congratulate the winner as I know it is going to someone who will care for it, but like everyone else- I had my eyes on it! I still do, actually. If I come across any el museos in my travels you can be certain I will be picking them up, they were quite the treat. I didn’t know what to expect since style was a huge element here, but La Flor Dominicana delivered with a fantastic cigar. Bravo.
